This video of monkeys feasting on a three-tier cake amused me greatly. It reminded me of my encounters with all kinds of monkeys.
You see, I live near a national park, so monkeys jump over the electric fence of the park and come to interact with humans.
So, you can find all types of monkeys relaxing on roofs of houses, eating fruits from trees, walking on electric cables, etc, in my area.
If you’re not careful, the monkeys can enter the house through the windows or doors.
Once they enter the house, they eat any food they can find. By the way, the monkeys here can eat all human foods. This includes cakes (as shown in the video), stew, rice, etc.
The monkeys can also take items from the house, e.g. phones, keys, sunglasses, toothpaste – anything they can lay their hands on. They discard the items outdoors as they really have no use for them. They are just naughty creatures.
Oh, yes, and they can also pee or poop inside your house if they feel the urge to do so. They have done so in my house at least two times.
The monkeys and humans in my area coexist in harmony and peace. They live with mutual respect and avoid harming each other. They respect each other’s space and needs.
However, I understand that some monkeys can be hostile and aggressive, especially towards women. I know women (including one of my neighbors) who have encountered aggressive monkeys.
A monkey entered my neighbor’s house through the window. It found her in the kitchen. She screamed and tried to chase it out of the house but it didn’t budge. It just stared back at her.
She had to run out of the back door to look for help. By the time she came back with help, the monkey had left.
Oh, by the way, no other animals come to our homes apart from the monkeys. I don’t want to create the impression that living near the national park means that we live with animals. The animals, including the monkeys, are confined in the park.
However, it’s almost impossible to confine all the monkeys, some escape. That’s how they get to interact with us humans.
We are usually unperturbed by the monkeys. As I said, we have learned to coexist in peace and harmony.
Have you had an encounter with monkeys that interact with humans? Kindly comment in the section below. Cheers!

🤣🤣 this is a normal occurrence in my neighborhood. Many a times they’ve strolled into my kitchen and take off with a loaf of bread or something and we are all left wondering where the bread has disappeared to 🤦🏽♀️.
Hi Susan. Your comment has made me laugh. It’s even worse when they take things like car keys or phones. You turn the house upside down looking for the items in vain. Thank you for reading.

This is such an interesting article. I love the way you observe all kinds of things about life!
I once left bananas to ripen outside at our veranda and the monkeys visited… they thoroughly feasted on the bananas.
Another time I was chatting with my neighbour, a lady, outside our gate… the monkeys came and we couldn’t chase them away instead they scared us off. The thing about them not being afraid of women seems true.
Wuehhhhh I have encountered a family of monkeys 🐒 that really wanted to enter the house about 5 of them. They stayed for sometime then left. I was so scared as the spread the garbage in the back yard.
Hi Nancy. Sometimes they can wreak havoc in the house or neighborhood. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Hi Monique. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. It looks like many people from different parts of the world have to coexist with these creatures. Cheers!
