Hi good people. Today I want to share with you work from home ideas for moms. As I mentioned in another article, I’m a true believer in the financial empowerment of women. As Melinda Gates once said, “When money flows into the hands of women, who have the authority to use it, everything changes for women, their families, and their communities.” Wow!
I know being a mom is a demanding 24/7 job. You might be wondering how you can get the time or the energy to work from home to empower yourself financially.
The good news is that women are great at multitasking and they do it efficiently and thoroughly. So, if you can plan your daily tasks carefully, you can create time to work from home to become a financially empowered woman.
When choosing work from home jobs for moms, it’s good to choose carefully so that you don’t become overwhelmed. I recommend that you choose the following kinds of work from home ideas for moms:
Tasks with a flexible work schedule: These are jobs that don’t have strict deadlines. You can do them at your own pace.
Tasks you enjoy doing: When you do a task you enjoy doing, it makes the experience worthwhile. It also keeps you highly motivated.
Light tasks: Being a mom is quite demanding physically, emotionally, and mentally. Choose a light work from home idea so that you don’t become overwhelmed.
Let’s now go into work from home ideas for moms without further ado. These work from home ideas are things you can do without leaving the comfort of your home.
1. Work From Home As A Freelance Writer
I’m starting with this work from home idea for moms because it’s something I’ve done for years. As a teacher, I had a lot of free time during the weekends and school holidays.
In addition, in my country, teachers earn a modest income. I thus felt the need to do something extra to supplement my family’s income. I discovered online freelance writing and since I love writing, I decided to venture into it.
I have been a freelance writer for the last 13 years. I have made thousands of dollars from freelance writing over those years.
I have encountered 2 types of work from home freelance writing jobs as a freelance writer as I’ll explain below.
Writing for Content Mills
Content mills are basically online websites that get loads of writing jobs from different clients. The content mills then hire writers to write the articles for their clients. They pay the writers a small fee for the articles.
Although content mills don’t pay writers well, they are good places to start honing your writing skills. Once you become confident in your writing, you can look for higher-paying work from home writing jobs.
Below are content mills I have used and made real money from:
www.myams.net: This was the first company I worked for as a freelance writer. The pay was minimal but I’m forever grateful for the writing experience I gained from them. They were the springboard to my writing career.
www.iWriter.com: This was the second content mill I worked for. Their pay is higher than Myams.net. You also have a chance of earning more as you grow in your freelance writing career.
www.textbroker.co.uk: I quit iWriter.com when I discovered textbroker.co.uk. This UK content mill pays better than Myams.net and iWriter.com. If you’re a great writer, you can get direct orders from clients. Direct orders pay more than normal orders. I made loads of Euros from this content mill.
www.textbroker.com: I haven’t worked for this company because they only accept writers from the U.S. However, I have a friend who used to work for them. It’s a legit company with numerous articles to choose from.
Get Writing Jobs From Job Boards
You can also get work from home writing jobs from job boards. Job boards are websites that advertise all sorts of jobs on behalf of employers. You see, some employers seeking part-time or full-time workers prefer to advertise job vacancies on job boards.
If you’d like to start working from home as a writer, you can sign up on the various job boards out there. You can then start applying for the advertised writing jobs on the job boards.
If you do a good job, you could end up getting repeat clients.
The job boards I’ve worked for are:
www.fiverr.com: The first job board I joined was Fiverr. As the name suggests, most gigs on this website start from $5. For example, if a client hires you to write a 500 word article, they’ll most probably pay you $5. Fiverr is a great place to start your work from home writing career as a mom.
www.upwork.com: This is one of the largest job boards – it has thousands of jobs. I have earned thousands of dollars from this job board over the last 5 years. After writing for different clients on Upwork, I got a client who gave me a job to write articles for his lifestyle website. I earned good money from that client. After 3 years, I decided to take a break – to start my own blog.
